There have been few moments in esports that have taken my breath away. Raisy’s win at the Italian Esports Open 2018 was definitely one of those moments. Raisy had an incredible tournament, running the gambit of competitive Quake and proving his #1 Ladder Ranking once and for all. Here’s his journey.

It all started with his first match against Cypher.

Round 4 was insane for Raisy, but Cypher clutched up and got his first round win. Round 5 was revenge for that clutch, with Raisy sweeping 3-0, and moving into the winners bracket! He faces Cooller next.

Raisy kept up his dominance against Quake legend Cooller.

Raisy went into the Losers Bracket, facing Clawz in the first Losers round, a repeat of the ESWC 2018 Finals. Raisy bested the fellow Myztro member 2-0, winning Awoken 3-0 and Corrupted Keep 3-2. He faced k1llsen again in the Losers Finals. It started out looking like k1llsen would best Raisy again, winning Blood Covenant 3-2, but Raisy sought revenge. He got just that, winning Corrupted Keep 3-2 and Vale of Pnath 3-1, to face Rapha in the Grand Finals.

Here’s where things got magical. Raisy vs Rapha was set to be an interesting series, and an interesting series it was.

And, that was it. Raisy won. He lifted the trophy, with one fist in the air, silently telling everyone in the Quake community that he had done it. He had defeated Rapha. He was the new king.

After the tournament, Raisy took to Twitter to thank his fans, his family, Myztro, ZOWIE, GamersApparel, Twitch, and his girlfriend Rawa for the support after his win.

We congratulate Raisy in his awesome and historic win at the Italian Esports Open. We’ll see him and Clawz back in action for Dreamhack Winter in Jönköping, Sweden, from November 30th- December 2nd, 2018.
