Welcome to Myztro Weekly Updates, and Happy New Year!

2020 is panning out to be an exciting year for Myztro Gaming. Here’s what went down since the decade started:

Quake Champions

Quake Pro League

Wins, Losses, and a Birthday. That’s all that’s gone down in the Quake Pro League in 2020.

In Week 6, both RAISY and Vengeur faced off against Russian powerhouses Cooller and BaSe. Both started their series on a Map 1 loss, but powered back to beat both Cooller and BaSe 2-1, respectfully.

Week 7 was a different beast. RAISY had a bye this week, meaning Vengeur was the lone Myztro competitor. He was now 21, as it was his birthday, and this match was against none other than k1llsen, whom he has faced 3 times before in Stage 1. A rivalry matchup, on your birthday. The stage was set for a monumental game, and what a game it was.

Map 1, Blood Covenant, was a close yet simple map for Vengeur, using Nyx to take the win 7-5. Map 2, Awoken, is typically seen as a home court for Vengeur. However, k1llsen did his homework, and he dominated Vengeur, winning Awoken 4-14, tying up the series 1-1. Everything lead up to Molten Falls. After an early k1llsen frag lead, Vengeur started to chip away, getting closer and closer to leading the German. Sadly, time wasn’t on his side, and k1llsen won the map and the series on a 7-9 scoreline, and tying the rivalry at an even 2-2. Despite the outcome, it was a stellar match, and we know it will be watched again by Quake fans in the future.

Next week, Week 8, will be Vengeur’s time to rest, and an opportunity for RAISY to get some revenge, as RAISY takes on k1llsen. Make sure to follow our Twitter for live scores and clips on Sunday, February 2nd, and come back here to myztro.net for a full wrap-up on all the action!

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 Speculation

On January 24th, Epic Games released some news regarding the next season of Fortnite. This next update will be the first major update to the game since October’s Chapter 2 Update that brought a whole new map to the game.

Epic announced that the game will be moving to Epic’s Unreal Engine Chaos physics system, and that they’ll be testing the new physics with smaller groups of players, ensuring “Fortnite feels like Fortnite”. This update will be released in Early February in Update 11.50.

Chapter 2 Season 2 is expected to launch on Thursday, February 20th, and while details are scarce, rumors have been relentless recently. Some believe the map will get substantial changes, while popular streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins states that this update could quote: “reset Fortnite completely”. Blevins speculates that Epic could be removing Building, a core mechanic that has been in the game since Launch, and differentiates Fortnite from other Battle Royale games in the genre.

All these rumors are exactly that, rumors, and should be treated with a grain of salt. Epic surely has some changes planned for us. We just have to wait and see what they are.

Apex Legends

Wait… What just happened???

If you’re a member of the Apex community, the past week has been a total blur with bamboozles so big, Mirage would be impressed.

Let’s take it from the top.

On January 23rd, Respawn hosted an Apex Legends developer stream that revealed Season 4 content. Season 4 will launch on February 4th, which coincides with the games 1 Year Anniversary. Ranked changes, anniversary charms, and other gifts are to come, but some bigger changes, items, and a new Legend is coming.

The Sentinel is the newest weapon to be added to the game, a Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle. No word on what caliber or ammo it will take at this time.

Forge is the newest Legend in Apex Legends… For now. Source: Respawn Entertainment

The biggest announcement is the newest Legend: Forge, “The People’s Champion”. Described as confident and humble, as well as having a corperate sponsor in Hammond Robotics, Forge uses his cybernetic arm and other enhancements to “batter opponents into submission”. Jimmie “Forge” McCormick (Not to be confused with Myztro’s very own Forge) was a breath of fresh air to the community, and many hoped he would be a counter to the now-meta Gibraltar. Forge even dissed Gibby and the delightfully innocent Pathfinder in an interview with Outlands TV.

All we would need to do to get more info on Forge is to tune in to the next episode of “Up Close And Personal with Lisa Stone” on January 27th.

Things Get Crazy

SPOILERS AHEAD, watch the video above if you haven’t already.

Forge sits down with Lisa Stone and talks a bit about finally qualifying for the Apex Games. When asked by Stone about the skeptics who don’t believe he’s ready to become an Apex Legend, he responds, “Look, the Legends are great, and deserve respect, but they’ve never faced anyone like me. And when we hit the ground, I dare any of them to bring the fight up close and personal.”

Those are some fighting works, McCormick.

Moments later, the broadcast is hit with some technical difficulties, before an “unknown assailant” is seen behind Forge, stabs Jimmie in the back, killing him instantly. Stone, covered in McCormick’s blood, screams.

The feed is cut. The world is in shock. Our new legend is now dead.

All Hail Revenant

We got utterly bamboozled.

Revenant is actually our Season 4 Legend. This video, while predicted and dampened by leaks, shook the Apex community and made people even more hyped for Season 4. More details are to come, such as abilities, passives, and skins, and we will want to know how he’ll effect the current meta. All those details and more will be in the next Myztro Weekly Update.

The exciting update will drop on Tuesday, February 4th, so mark those calendars. We’re in for a wild ride.

ALGS Online Qualifiers

This past weekend, ottr took on the rest of Europe in the first ALGS Major Online Qualifiers. His team, “tbd Team”, consisting of Baker and Hqrdest, started their Saturday off with 15 Points in the Round of 320, and made it all the way to the Round of 160, barely missing the qualifications for Quarterfinals.

tbd Team will be retrying qualifications on February 13th in the second Online Qualifier to try to punch their ticket to Arlington.

That’s it for this week’s edition of Myztro Weekly Updates! Come back next week for the latest Myztro Gaming content!
